Telling the time

This week we are studying how to tell the time in 3rd grade (we have been reviewing it in 4th and 5th grade also during this term).
Here we have a brief summary of the most important tips and some examples so you can practice.

Telling the time in a complete sentence:

IT'S min PAST/TO hour.

IT'S hour  O'CLOCK.

Learning about the weather (Level 1)

This month we are learning about the weather. In this unit, Kelly Kangaroo talks about the weather and what type of clothes we should wear.

We always talk about the weather in our daily routine, but we are learning more and more about it! We use puppets and songs too!

Here you can see Marta and Jaime talking about the weather

After talking about the weather, we do the Pronunciation Lab which is a very important part at this age, because they imitate the native accent and increase their vocabulary. Here you can see the vocabulary that we are learning in year 3.

And... our favorite song!

 Craft to do at home:

Make a pair of binoculars for weather watching using empty toilet paper rolls!

The garden project (Level 2)

Last week we finished our first project in collaboration with the level 2 teachers of kindergarten. The project was about the garden. In English we worked hard to study about different types of plants, how plants grow...and also, we incorporate concepts that the kids already knew and we reinforced them, such as: colors, shapes, numbers...

We had a good time learning about fruits and vegetables, and we discovered that our favourites flowers were sunflowers and poppies!

Here you can find some pics about our work and some videos that our teachers used to increase our knowledge on gardening!

"All the flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today"

We made this big poster like a flower pot.
You can see that we drew our faces and sticked them in a yellow cardboard.
The result was so funny!

This poster made by the teachers explains us what plants need to live:
They need 4 things, do you know them? SUN, WATER, SOIL and AIR.

Once we knew what plants need to live, we explored more about gardeners: what clothes they use to work, as well as instruments used to take care plants. The teacher showed us different types of seeds and we drew our own seeds and plants.

Videos that we watched and enjoyed:

George and the dragon

We are also studying some cultural facts that are very important to understand a Language and a Country as it is the United Kingdom.

These weeks we are working on a play about St. George (England's Patron Saint, and in many other countries too) and the dragon.

Here we can see a short video by British Council with the story we are working in during our speaking lessons.
