Spelling Bee 2018

After some days preparing for the great event, with different groups rounds and some training, yesterday the day came and we celebrated our school final for this year Spelling Bee.
It was a great day for all the participants and also for all their classmates who were excited cheering for their classmates. Like every year we celebrated three different finals, one for each group of participants attending to their levels (1st and 2nd year; 3rd and 4th year; 5th and 6th year).
It was a real success thanks to the help of our two assistants, Liz and Maddison, the English teachers in the school and all the other teachers and people helping our event to be a great day for everybody.
Here you can see some pictures of our winners and other moments in our school finals.

And the winners are...

Sara Morales Jiménez.
Alejandro Morillo González.
Nuria Yáñez Luque.

They will have the opportunity to represent our school in the AMCO Spelling Bee National Contest on May 5th 2018 in Madrid.

CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!

Discovering English speaker countries!

Hi friends! On this post I’m going to talk about a project I did with 3 and 4 years old students.

As part of the AMCO routine, before starting the books, is ESSENTIAL let them know the puppets (pets) of each class. For the 3 years old class the pet is KELLY KANGAROO and she is from AUSTRALIA; FLASH THE FOX is BRITISH and is the 4 years pet.

I spent 3 days introducing the pets and discovering each country (or at least the most famous aspects) let’s get started, pick your luggage and come with us!!

I introduced both pets using a bit of “magic”. They were inside boxes and we have to knock in the box and count to ten to open it; once they did it, the pets came out bouncing and running so happy to see the kids.

Starting with Kelly, we talked about Australia, the typical animals we can find there like Kangaroos, Koalas, Sharks, snakes or Emus. Also we saw some pictures of the most famous places like the Opera of Sydney or the Uluru rocks.

Finally we colored Kelly and take our drawings home to show our families who Kelly Kangaroo was.

Here you can find some pictures of the kids coloring Kelly very enthusiastic!

As part of knowing Australia we sang and danced a song of the “native Australian Animals!
"here is a Sneak peek"!

4 years Old student’s pet is Flash Fox, a British fox so nice and friendly who showed us part of his culture like famous people as The Beatles, Queen Elisabeth II, Harry Potter, the Beefeaters, and Sherlock Holmes. Also we had the chance to “travel” throw the UK with the help of a video where flash showed us The Big Ben, the typical Red payphones, The Red busses, Stonehenge, the monster of lake Ness and the Tower Bridge .
Here I post some videos of them discovering the UK!
To finish the post I upload a video of the giveaway of the kid’s material, in a really “British way” just like Sherlock Holmes!! Thank you very much for reading, hope you like it and enjoy as much as we did, Kind rewards
Teacher Sara!

Bye teacher Katherine! You were amazing with us!

Katherine was our language assistant in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Not only we learnt a lot about phonics with her, but also about her culture and the amazing celebrations from USA.

She produced fantastic material every day to improve our knowledge about English and we love her so much! Here you can find photos and videos about one of our last sessions with her. Have fun in New York, dear teacher!

By bye Teacher Charlotte! We will miss you a lot!

Today we have to say goodbye to our teacher Charlotte. She needs to go back to England and finish her studies at the University. We want to thank you for everything that you taught us as well as the great moments that we spent with you! We love you so much and we hope to hear from you soon!
